Francis Yates a lifelong resident of Yatesville born July 28 1824 in Hanover township died after a weeks long illness. A man of sterling character he helped found the boroughs coal land and later served as borough official and school treasurer. He remained active in public affairs and his passing ends a four score year life in the Wyoming Valley community.
