Engineers Max Miller W H Beckendorf and Doe Seigle transfer include two day crews and one night crew. The change aims to improve car supply flow and could signal ending the Dunmore centralizing plan.

Robert J Hallock died suddenly at his South Main street home after a period of illness from slow consumption and heart disease. He was about fifty eight and born in Northmoreland Wyoming county, moved to Pittston twenty three years ago and worked in the market trade. Survived by wife Mrs M A Jones and children Alex Giles Col Frank Stanley Mrs William Richardson and siblings Henry Hallock Mrs William Wyant Mrs Eliza Sickler and Mrs Sarah Wall. Funeral details not listed.

John Lynch a 56 year old stone mason at Harry E colliery Forty Fort died after steam escaped from a broken pipe in the mine frightening him as he fled the area. He was taken to Mercy Hospital but died of scalding injuries. Lynch was a widower with six children.
Dillie J. Koons of Lynn was killed last night by Otis Whipple of Auburn township during a longstanding quarrel at William Clark's Lemon residence. Whipple fled after resisting arrest. Koons leaves a wife and two children. Coroner Meade and Constable Harding investigated.
Washington December 20 General Lawton died after a dire clash in Mariquina valley during the Manila campaign. Known for courage and rapid pursuit of Geronimo he led troops through harsh terrain and dangers. His death prompted grief from Secretary Root and President McKinley.

At Senator M A Hanna's request the Little Consolidated Street railroad will distribute 5000 to its employees Saturday night as a Christmas gift. The senator telegrammed the directors to praise the employees for standing by during the recent Big Consolidated lines strike and refusing to go out.
The Marquis of Queensberry was found insensible in bed at the Raleigh club and is now in a very critical condition. The eighth Marquis, John Sholto Douglas, born July 20, 1844, inherited the title in 1853 and is famed as the author of the Queensberry rules governing prizefighting contests.
A Dawson report records a quartz discovery with assays up to 800 dollars per ton and a ledge one mile wide. The piece notes a separate tragedy, two women and three men drowned when a boat capsized on the Stewart River on November 3.
Columbus Ohio December 20 The Ohio Supreme Court disposed of a bribery by implication claim against Standard Oil in the ouster suit. the court found no evidence linking the company to an alleged bribe offer to Attorney General Monnett who said 400000 was offered to drop the prosecution.
The Indianapolis Commercial club met when news arrived of Major General Lawton's death in the Philippines. Captain W B England proposed and the group passed a resolution to fittingly recognize Lawton's services with a heroic statue in Monument Circle, Indiana.
Governor Roosevelt expressed deep grief at General Henry W. Lawton's death praising him as one of the ablest generals and bravest soldiers in the U S Army. He recalled Lawton's leadership at Santiago and in the Philippines and mourns the loss felt by the nation.
In Santiago Cuba on December 20 officers who served with Major General Lawton mourn his death. A social function at the Officers' club was postponed and flags on government buildings and the American club were lowered to half mast.
Norman B. Peverill, a former Seventh New York artillery and Canadian forces member, was arrested by Deputy U S Marshal Burns for recruiting men in Rochester to join British forces in South Africa. He allegedly violated neutrality laws by hiring Americans to enlist abroad, after an ad urged single men to contact him at 15 Concord Avenue. Authorities say 13 men submitted applications.
Part of a mountain toppled near Kingston Rosendale injuring no one. Thousands of tons of rock slid down the slope dragging an engine and boiler house sheds and other NY and Rosendale Cement Co structures into the old canal. A cement storehouse toppled across the canal and the Wallkill Valley railroad bridge 100 feet high was bent stopping rail travel.
Washington announces the appointment of fourth class postmasters including A H Haynes and A H Dresser in New York and James B Potter in Tyner plus Milo H West in South Tu r g sburg, and Walter V Y Sayrs in New Jersey.
Thomas Sharkey, Frank Brown and Bob Armstrong departed New York for Hot Springs where they will stay about four weeks. They will then proceed to West Baden Indiana and are not expected to return to New York before February 15.
Chicago December reports Sol Smith Russell collapsed on stage during The Hon John Grigsby. He is said to be in serious condition, and all his engagements for the season are canceled.
Washington reports Spain has forwarded to the United States drafts for overdue interest under the 1834 treaty. The payments cover 1898 and 1899 for indemnities to American citizens from Spanish actions at sea and blockades. Spain’s resumption signals a wish to restore cordial relations postwar. Two masked men struck the 9:15 p m Omaha and Nebraska City passenger train in Kansas City Kansas. They robbed passengers in the Pullman including the conductor, taking five gold watches and about $100. No shots were fired and no injuries reported as the bandits fled at Newman six miles out.
