Berlin reports Kronstadt, 20 miles west of St Petersburg, saw a pitched clash between sailors and sailors and marines amid a long standing feud. Two thousand fighters clashed. officers tried to separate them but failed. Troops were called out and order restored after 60 killed and over 800 wounded.
Lieutenant Governor John A. Lee, exhausted and ill, returns to St. Louis with wife after a Chicago to Alton visit. He meets with Circuit Attorney Folk and plans to appear before a grand jury. Lee says he came to end politics, denies fugitive status, and reveals only $40 in bank funds.
Washington dispatch notes the first annual report of J. H. Grant civil leave reaching the War Department amid prolonged friction between military and civil authorities. In New York, engineer John M. Wisker was acquitted of manslaughter in the tunnel collision case. Chicago police rescued five people from a hotel fire as investigations and labor news continue from coal regions.
Partly cloudy tonight with showers, then warmer in northern and western sections. In New York Colonel Joseph R. Rickey, inventor of the Rickey, dies of heart failure at 24 West Twenty Fifth Street boarding house, aged? years. April 24 reported disaster at the Northwest Star Oil company plant at the foot of Sixth Avenue. A sudden blast collapsed walls and started a mass of flames. No one in the fire survived. Cause undetermined. some employees were handling tank cars in the basement. Several follow up explosions hampered firefighting. Rescue crews could do little as flames burned out. News also notes a horse accident at Aqueduct and local ads for watches and jewelry.
Chief Cosgrove responded at Duryea High School after a Polish boy, punished by his teacher Mr Valentine, brandished a pistol. The revolver was taken from the student. it was loaded but with a broken trigger. The boy was suspended from school.
Russia presses China to sign an agreement ceding Manchuria sovereignty and excluding foreign powers. Key demands include control of administration, customs, and telegraphs, plus a sanitary commission under Russian oversight, with severe limits on Chinese autonomy and foreign involvement in Manchuria.
President Roosevelt resumes his Yellowstone tour amid near misses and humorous incidents as John Burroughs travels with him. A gun misfire grazes the president, a rock goats sighting disrupts shaving, and a buckled horse test the party in freezing weather. Separately, a massive blaze in Fairbury, Nebraska destroys a quarter of the business district, with losses estimated up to 900000 and local militia patrolling the burned area.

Governor Yates praised Speaker Miller for opposing alleged corruption as the chamber devolved into a tornado of protest while a federal receivership loomed over Chicago street railway plans. In Muhlenburg a woman living as a man, known as Baris or Fred Green, was reported after years on a farm.
