Carlisle D. Graham went over Niagara Falls in a barrel and survived though badly bruised. His wife urged caution while Constable Hern and Staley watched from shore. The dive lasted about 50 minutes before rescuers opened the barrel and pulled him to safety.

Guards describe pacing like a sentinel, meals from Sheriff Johnson’s wife, and poor health. she rejects prayer books yet accepts a bouquet and a few lines. In Curiaco September 1 fifty farmers will march to Judge McConnell’s court for jury duty in the Cronin suspects trial. The venue was set without defense knowledge, with Sheriff Matson sending bailiffs to summon jurors from farms and distant villages. Some jurors may be accepted or the defense will exercise challenges.
An indignation meeting of sealing industry interests in Behring Sea was held last night in Vicronia British Columbia. Delegates pressed for protection and a fair settlement of the Behring Sea dispute in the seal fishery.
Ex police man Henry Nadine was shot in the left side on Graham Avenue by Charley De Lacy. The bullet hit Nadine and embeds near the heart. De Lacy fled but was captured by a policeman. Nadine transported to St Catherine’s Hospital with severe injuries. Walters recounts a domestic dispute and De Lacy expresses regret that Nadine was hit. Coroner Lindsay recorded Nadine's statement and noted no intent to injure him.
Gen Sherman described a Milwaukee incident with Phil Sheridan Post members who forced him and his brother Major Hoyt Sherman out of seats they had engaged. A porter later directed them to the car ahead, while they observed the G A R members had removed them with eyes open. He said they may have had right to eject but could have been politer.
In Louisville on September 1 Miss Mamie Canine daughter of a prominent local dentist married Sidney Schief eldest son of an English earl in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. The match surprised friends as the couple had previously met in New York and had planned a trip to England before marrying locally.
In Washington a palatial residence of Vice President Levi P. Morton is nearing completion. Located on Rhode Island avenue near Scott's Circle, the house was built by John Frazer for Lieutenant Broadhead and later sold to Prof. Bell for $100,000. Morton purchased it last spring and has added five rooms and extensive alterations. Furnishings are planned to begin by October 1.
Delegates fill Cleveland for the thirty fourth General Convention of the German Roman Catholic Central Association. Bands accompany many delegations, a 7:30 a m high mass at the cathedral, a forenoon of sightseeing, a 4000 person parade, and a summer night festival with a gala concert in honor of the visitors.
An 11 year old girl in Albany gave embalming fluid to her 11 month old sister who cried for water. The infant died after the child carried the bottle to the house and a physician arrived too late. The incident occurred as the Welch family faced tragedy in the home.
The Goodland Indiana killing of Luther by the Everidges triggers more violence in the Choctaw Nation. A Choctaw man was found dead near Antlers riddled with bullets as federal authorities pursue the Everidges, who have friends and may evade capture for now.

Beene threatens Beary Cooper Co in Echo prompting a clerk to shoot the armed assailant after a brutal blow. Reports say mob plans against whites in New River area and Charleston stores order Winchester rifles as rumors of military deployment spread. No further details by 10 pm.
E M Andrews a wealthy Connecticut architect long rumored murdered in Florida is reported alive and will return home. His wife Mrs Andrews in Ridgefield consents to mourning end and to refund life insurance once he reappears after settling with the Masons. Andrews may be in Portland Oregon where he once lived.
A dispatch from Washington notes Daniel Ransdell dismisses Democratic staff at the U S Marshal’s office and appoints eight Republicans, including three Indians, while criticizing the Civil Service Commission proposal to place division chiefs under classified service.
Deer Park Missouri September 1 The President stayed indoors most of the day and did not attend church. He may leave midweek for Washington and is urged to attend the Log Cabin College celebration in Pennsylvania on Thursday. If he returns, weekend may be at the White House and on Monday morning attend a Baltimore parade before returning to Deer Park. The Harrison family may stay until September 20 to 25.
City of Mexico reports repeated trials of Krupp cannon before the President and army board with satisfactory results. A new bank is planned in Chinchos. Vice Consul General Edgar Took in Michoacan sends coffee samples to the United States. A company plans to bring Irish colonists to Mexico. The negro emigration scheme has little chance in the Southern States.
Pullman cars may join Chicago street car service as a future feature. The plan envisions attaching elegant day coaches to Southside and Westside cable trains with comforts of fine rail cars. A five cent extra would be charged per trip, with tea service limited by car capacity.
Jefferson Texas dispatch reports Allen Grant Jr and his sister Belle Grant were fishing seven miles above Jefferson when a decayed cypress tree fell, crushing them to death before aid could arrive. Nearby fishermen witnessed the accident and could not restore them.

A shooting affray last night in Rocky Ford Colorado involved Cattle Inspector Joe Wyatt United States Marshal Maxwell of Pueblo John Miller and others. Miller was wounded twice including a leg break and groin wound. another shooter known as the Freshouts was hit in the left shoulder. The Miller family from La Junta had feuded with Inspector Wyatt over a suit against George Hill. Eight men were jailed or bonded at $1000 each after about 40 shots.
Special telegram from Boston notes an unusually large display of flowers for Mrs Sullivan's funeral tomorrow. Sporting figures nationwide sent tributes, including a champion who ordered a standing anchor and white carnation chain topped by a white dove, with many others from cities such as New Orleans New York Detroit Brooklyn Hoboken Atlantic City Bridgeport Denver and more.
In North Shields an exhibition by Miss Beaumont ended with her parachute descent catching on a lightning conductor. She hung by one arm high above the ground as a crowd looked on. Attendants climbed to assist and she was brought down safely.
A mob in Bessemer and Gogebic County threatens lynching as sheriff Daveeter transfers outlaw Holzhay from the Marquette jail to the Gogebic jail. The captured highwayman is accused of robbing the Milwaukee and Northwestern trains and possibly Wisconsin Central trains, with crowds ready to push for immediate punishment before a stage transport to Bessemer.
Wesley Scarfoss of Rita is dying from rattlesnake bites received while bees swarmed near Mt Yeager eight miles from Wilkesbarre. He and his brother attempted to reach help but medical aid was not sought in time.
In Wasurvonton on September 1 it is understood Judges Frazer of Indiana and Samuel Phillips of North Carolina, appointed by President Harrison as arbitrators for the Venezuelan Commission, have declined to serve though they may act temporarily until another is named.
