How the Famous Spring Was Found and Named
In 1851 Herr George Kreuzberg near Neuenahr traced a ground gas for a mineral spring. Prof BishofSof Bonn advised digging and a 40 foot bore yielded a geyser like spring named for the nearby Apollinaris church. The water's high carbonic acid caused boiling and posed danger to approach on calm days. Bottling later proved possible.
