New York October 15. Hearings on injunctions by Brush and United States Companies to stop Board of Electrical Control from cutting wires or shutting currents began in Supreme Court chambers. The Board labeled the wires public obstructions and planned removal. Case continued to morning. city endured dim night as lights went out except safe circuits. William M. Riddle former Penn Bank president now in New York received a $320,000 default judgment from Judge Andrews in the Supreme Court Chambers against Upton L. Boyce a Southern railroad figure. The suit claims Boyce owed Riddle $70,000 in cash plus $250,000 in Covington and Macon Railroad stock for services aiding stock floating and loan procurement.
Chief Arthur arrives with staff in Denver and 300 delegates reach the city by train for the convention starting tomorrow. Refused pardons included Abe Bur gard and Charles Gib non for breaking jail. Robert H. Cram of Lyscoming sought rehearing over alleged malpractice by Dr Jesse Lindsey.
The Inter-State Commerce Commission resumed hearings on the Independent Refiners Association of Titusville against Western New York and Pennsylvania, Erie, Delaware and Hudson, Fitchburg, Boston and Maine, and Lehigh Valley Railroads. Washington October 15 Lieutenant Robert M C Brown is expected to succeed Colonel Roming as Judge Advocate General of the Navy in 1893 and will join the office as a preparatory course with the rank of acting officer at high pay. Brown is son in law of ex Senator Henry C Davis, a Democratic delegate to the Pan American Congress, and his family ties to President Harrison are noted as influential. Brown spent the summer at Deer Park and earned White House favor through a personal kindness to Baby McKee, a favored figure of the President.

RB Kearnley of Bucyrus Ohio sues Mrs Nellie Avery Auger daughter of the late Newell Avery to set aside two mortgages for 15000 on city property. The mortgage was executed in 1887 by a person to the plaintiff’s knowledge but in reality is counterfeit and fraudulent.
Socialist Shevitch challenges Mayor Oregier to expel his group from Chicago after a convention report claimed the American flag was hissed. He plans to meet the Mayor to clarify the incident and defend his call for Chicago to become a city of revolutions. The mayor denied the allegation.
At a Nashville gathering the Negro Democratic State Committee adopted resolutions. C Beaith of Chattanooga was praised for campaign work. Delegates attended from most zones, with one district absent.
Four engineers risked themselves to save three misers trapped by a burning rope and a collapsing shaft structure. Thomas led the sinking crew as a heavy sheave breached a wheel support, but quick action and a perilous bucket ascent prevented a disaster.

In Springfield Ohio on October 15 Chris Haz a noted shoe merchant was attacked on his way home. He was robbed of a gold watch seven dollars and other valuables and left by a railroad track to die. He was found by a policeman around 11 PM with a bruised face and no arrest made yet.
Frank Loftus, a fireman and brother of Tom Loftus, manager of the Cleveland baseball team, was shot and killed in the street after stepping out to a saloon. The motive remains unclear and the incident occurred in Louis, October 15.
