Parade of 7000 Hibernians marches through Pittsburg on Columbus Day
Major Denniston, chief marshal, expects a monster Columbus Day parade with about 20 000 participants. The Ancient Order of Hibernians will field 7000 members and an eight company regiment of Hibernian Rifles. If space is lacking on the Southside, formation will move to Allegheny with a similar route. Officials seek space to form the multigroup procession without conflict. Mayor Gourley receives a proposal to erect a Columbus Monument in Schenley Park, to be examined by Chief Bigelow.
