London October 5 Anna Teresa Berger the American cornetist has been a concert season success. She received a medal on stage at Covent Garden Theater from admiring American fans and the evening’s performance drew a large crowd.
Jouxstown reports two more bodies recovered from the river as state forces continue rubbish removal and sewer work. Officials warn many remains may still be in the water while funds are sought to clean cellars and support relief efforts. Captain Kubo departs for Washington as commissary operations wind down.
The rear end of a south bound freight on the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad broke loose while climbing a summit four miles south of Corry Pennsylvania. It ran into the following morning passenger train with great force injuring several passengers and crew members. Conductor Fox suffered a bad wound and leg injury. L W Bessie of Oil City had a head bruise. Engineer Sullivan of Mayville had a broken leg and other injuries. William Miner of Spring Creek was smashed.
A young man, J Dyneley Prince, and Miss Ade line Loomis, long treated as siblings after Loomis’ father wed Prince’s mother, wed in a noon ceremony at the Church of the Holy Communion. Their engagement surprised both families as Prince returned from Europe where he studied Eastern languages.
Lake Superior Transit Co reports steamer Bessemer and schooner Schuylkill wrecked at Portage Lake near Hancock. Both vessels laden with ore sank after developing leaks in the night. crews saved and safe in Hancock. The Schuylkill owned by P H Fleming was being towed by the Bessemer on the Ashland Wisconsin to Cleveland Ohio run. Captain Hulbat in charge confirms total wrecks though no crew injuries reported.

Henry Andrews a prominent Woonsocket dealer and owner of Farnumsville cotton mills died this morning after a September 27 quarrel in which William Blanchard struck him with a wooden stick. An autopsy was ordered and Blanchard was arrested on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Charles Davis a 19 year old outlaw and band leader of horse and cattle thieves was killed by Deputy US Marshals Turner Terry and Hart after a siege at a vacant house near Fleetwood Indian Territory. Davis opened fire as Hart left for aid and fell mortally wounded within a half hour.
New York reports Julia O Conn er aged 14 died at New York Hospital from injuries suffered two months earlier in a beating by another 14 year old girl. The case centers on a jealous dispute connected to a prior encounter at a station and involves the name Maggie and a referenced rival.
Civil Service Commissioner Roosevelt reports on Baltimore post office management under civil service law. He accuses Veazy’s era of widespread unlawful removals and appointments, noting mass dismissals, political influence, and demoralization. Special telegram reports Thomas V. Moffett a well known East Baltimore resident and a 33 year old widow disappeared in August after a relative left him 600 dollars. Moffett planned to leave with the widow, was seen drinking heavily, and left town with their trunk taken to the depot. They are believed to be heading toward Kansas City. Moffett is 42 and the widow 33.
United States Minister Washburne receives an apology from the Swiss government regarding the arrest and confinement of Baltimore resident Charles E. Coates in a foul dark cell during travel in Switzerland last summer. No formal charges were filed.
A Hungarian worker fell from a malfunctioning Bellefonte Furnace Company elevator shaft in Bellefonte. The car descended from about 16 feet after the cable snapped while the operator stepped on to remove a barrow. The incident occurred around 6 o clock this evening as the load was being moved.

From Harris county a report states George Washington Gordon and his wife were in a cotton field when a masked shooter fired from the public road, killing Gordon as he fled.
