Firestorm in Boston Engulfs Business District

A major blaze swept the Boston business district, with seventy engines unable to stop a 25 000 square foot furnace of fire. The loss tops 12 million dollars with many buildings destroyed and several firemen missing. Chief Webber directed a massive response from Bedford to Chauncey streets as water turned to steam and the flames leaped across streets. Special trains brought aid from surrounding towns and the rain helped quell the fire, but insurance firms face heavy obligations and potential insolvencies amid widespread destruction.
