Real Revolution Patents Claimed to Beat Edison
A Boston company with $6,000,000 capital plans to acquire electric lighting and rail propulsion patents by inventor Van Chest. Leonard Moody is elected president as tests proceed and a plant may be built in Boston within six months. The lamp is said to be whiter brighter and cheaper than Edison, using a metal film instead of carbon, with no overhead wires for propulsion. Royal Peabody doubts patent impact against Edison.
