Omana Nov 13 Captain P H Ray formerly Judge Advocate of the Department of the Platte and in charge of a company of Indians at Fort Wasakie was arrested by Major Kellogg two weeks ago for insubordination and conduct unbecoming an officer. He has been released to arrest by General Brooke. Ray has filed charges against Major Kellogg now being reviewed by General Brooke. Kellogg’s two month conduct is also under review by the Judge Advocate and the Commanding General.
In Columbus on North High street a row of cheap frame buildings burned in the early hours. Firemen recovered four bodies by 5 pm and sent them to the coroner. The remains include a two year old boy, two girls aged four and six, and the mother and father. The head of the family is reported as Charles Bethers, a laborer, though not yet confirmed.
Andrew W. Gill sues William R. Green in New York Supreme Court special term alleging a Denver partnership formed in 1888 to secure hotel brewery and mine options with English syndicates. Gill claims $500000 from the sale of the Anheuser Busch breweries to the Detroit Breweries Limited and St Louis Brewery Limited. Green denies the partnership. Evidence includes a Windsor Hotel Denver sale cited by Gill. The case remains on.
Judge Jackson of the United States Circuit Court rules against city authority to control gas prices. The Cleveland ordinance cut gas to 60 cents per 1,000 without court consent, seeking relief against what the gas company calls confiscation of property. The judge overruled the city's demurrer and issued an injunction, saying the city cannot set price and would impair a contract from 1846.
