Pittsburg Councils Debate Water Tank and Street Repairs
The Pittsburg Select Council held a 45 minute session approving several ordinances and resolutions. A water tank in the Nineteenth ward was proposed to improve supply for high ground residents, with plans for a large iron tank on Winebiddie Hill and gravity-fed piping from Hiland Avenue. The council also adopted street cleaning resolutions for Seventeenth ward and considered repaving Butler Street. A fire department concern prompted a water main resolution on Brereton Avenue due to distant hydrants observed during a October fire.

Coal in Motion as River Rises Prompt Large Tow Movements
The river stood about 13 feet with heavy coal traffic yesterday as a strong current limited Sunday output. W. H. Brown Sons sent four boats and four barges carrying around 820,000 bushels, John A. Wood & Son 250,000 bushels, and other firms like Pacific Mo nongahela Towing and W. W. O Neil & Co moved substantial coal loads. Totals since the rise began reach about 8,000,000 bushels with major shipments by Walton, Brown, and Wood. The Bob Pritchard arrives with a tow for Joseph Walton & Co while Hon. R. S. Carr visits the city. The river falls slowly but should remain elevated enough to sustain the freshet.
