The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor convention opens tomorrow evening in Pittsburgh with about 1100 delegates expected. 200 come from Philadelphia. rail rates stir a rate war with Pennsylvania Company at 10, then 8, and Baltimore and Ohio offering dinners. A special train from Washington, Pa, will bring 200 delegates. Reception features an engraved folder with motto Be strong in the Lord and His Might and notes on local sights. James Taggart was tried for assault and battery on Samuel Meredith and for selling liquor to minors. acquitted of assault and battery and found guilty of selling liquor to minors. The jury also heard the case of Martin Sullivan for the larceny of a dog valued at 20 from D H Murdock of McKeesport.
