A large three story brick store at Hackensack and Broad streets is described as the residence of Mr Pole who fired on a small burglar ten miles out from Jersey City along the Erie line. The shot occurred when Mr Pole and his family were awakened at night. the intruder fled and was later seen limping and bleeding as a hunt followed his description.
