Itinerant Rule Battle at Methodist Conference

The panel affirmed that lay members refer to men only, sparking debate over Epworth League autonomy and the potential to appoint a league secretary. A vote upheld Epworth’s broad rights, while other measures sought to define Epworth leadership and membership in church structures. The session also weighed the five year ministry time limit, with a minority seeking removal. the five year rule remains, and the conference adjourned.
