Methodist Conference to Abolish Five Year Pastorates
At Omaha May 18 the Methodist Episcopal General Conference debated ending the five year limit on pastorates. Majority supports the change to allow bishops discretion. Elections for editors of Christian Advocate and Northwestern Advocate proceeded with broad support for Buckley and Edwards, while a minority opposed the reform citing stability concerns. The session adjourned after lengthy itinerancy discussion.
