Settlement of Damages With Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad
The Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad Company settled damage claims from a wreck near Homewood and Wampum, about $60,000 total. Engineer George Orr received $6,000 cash plus medical and payroll support and opted for settlement rather than suit. Other plaintiffs got roughly $4,000 each after a renunciation of further claims, with explanations of a mutual blacklist by railroads and the company’s stance to settle fairly to avoid legal costs.
