Pittsburg industrialist Abram Reese unveils a three-high rolling mill that eliminates reversing engines and stops for rails. The design cuts costs and speeds production, drawing praise from iron and steel leaders. Reese, near 70, cites family longevity and lifelong invention.
The Homestead works announce department head changes with Joseph Skewis moving from managing the Bessemer department to head the new beam mill, Taylor Alderdyce succeeding Skewis, and Nicholas Rattigan taking over Alder shren’s former role in the eee mill.
