In Mohnsville Rev Joseph Sprecht anti Bowman was refused admission while Bowman Rev D B Albright was welcomed as pastor.
Dr Joseph F Fox an Irish MP from Kings county arrives in New York as an anti-Parnellite delegate. He plans to raise private subscriptions for the evicted tenants fund, then proceed to Boston Philadelphia and other major cities to mobilize support.
A Regina Catholic priest Rev. Father Graton was found dead five miles outside Winnipeg after leaving Thursday to help in elections. His team gave out on the return and he walked on, seeking Reeina for Sunday services. He died from exposure in the cold snow.
Proeta March 8 The Jacksonville Southeastern fast passenger train from here to Havana 41 miles south derailed at a sharp curve near the Havana switch. Fireman Saddler was killed instantly while Engineer George Birkenhead suffered severe injuries. Other injured include Edward Hemmatt Walter Conover Charles Mulvaney and Miss Emma with varying injuries.

In Jackson the Pearl River rises three feet in 12 hours with trains delayed, while the Mississippi at Memphis stands 1.5 feet above the danger line as the region endures unprecedented rainfall.
At a mass meeting of Chicago journeymen carpenters about 3000 attendees debated arbitration with employers. If arbitration fails the group vows a large strike with wages as the sole issue, seeking a minimum rate of ST's cents per hour.

In Toledo on March 8 a man named Charles J Edwards visited Father F Quigley and threatened to kill someone while reaching toward his hip. He was found dead Saturday in his room with poison nearby. Quigley believes mental distress and his anti Masonic beliefs influenced the act. The death remains unconfirmed.
Mrs Tillie Mowrey aged about 19 was seized by two unknown men in daylight, forced into a carriage, and driven to the Wisconsin Central depot to catch a train to Northern Wisconsin. Her ex husband Hubert Secord of Packwaukee Wis is cited as a caller of letters urging her to return. A telegram signed by the abducted woman warned her parents that “His friends” had taken her, dated Rugby Station Wis.
Harrisburg dispatch reports a governor led trustees conflict over hires and removals at the State Library. Trustees demand resignations of Assistant W. Kek Miller and Watchman Barns, citing partisan pressure. Librarian Ezra Egle faces pressure to fill vacancies with Republicans or risk trustees overruling his picks.
On Friday Mrs. W. H. Minor, a handsome society woman aged about 25, left her Vernon street home without wraps. Her husband noticed recent strange conduct but attributed it to overexcitement. Her body was found this evening in the West river, the result of self-inflicted death amid temporary derangement.
The Citizens' Committee nominates Franklin McVeath while the Socialistic Labor Party selects Thomas J. Morgan as Chicago mayoral candidates. The Socialists also endorse a full ticket for other city and town offices.
John Pratt, a deaf mute and farmer from Danbury, was arraigned for shooting James Morrow after a dog incident. He offered no reply, pleaded not guilty in writing, and was discharged after his written explanation that the act was an accident. His brother William accompanied him throughout.
P A B Widener and W L Elkins, back from a Mexico South trip, say they know nothing of the bill to consolidate motor companies and doubt it affects Pittsburg Traction. Senator Handy Smith says the measure originated in Pittsburg and was handed to him for introduction by Allegheny county senators.
In New York on March 8 two Catholic priests from Orange after services entered a saloon run by Michael Reilly and later reported to police headquarters as witnesses. They continued to enter five more saloons, finding liquor smelled by all the saloonkeepers.
