Penn Bank Case Argument Spicy and Protracted in Court

In a lengthy session before Judges Ewing and White, T F Patterson continued the argument on setting aside the report of Ex Judge Hire as Master in the Penn Bank case. He attacked President Riddle’s trustworthiness, detailing bank assets, short cash, and outside bankers’ loans to show mismanagement and deceit. TD Watson followed for the directors, arguing equity against liability, recounting Riddle’s role, fictitious accounts, and the bank’s collapse while stressing director negligence standards and the need to consider practical business judgment.
