Seventeenth Ward Students Storm Allegheny Arsenal In Jubilee

About 1 600 pupils led by Principal E W Fisher captured the Allegheny Arsenal grounds yesterday afternoon. The parade moved from the Seventeenth ward schools to Butler street, with the Grand Army Band, carrying flags and tin cups as canteens, and Major McKee surrendered the upper arsenal area. The event drew an estimated 4 000 onlookers including parents, with games, lemonade, a band stand incident, colored fire work, and a festive mood ending at dusk. The Seventeenth ward teachers praised neighborly aid from Fifteenth ward directors who lent the Grand Minty Band for the jubilee.
