Chicago eyes a 20 000 seat wigwam for the Democratic national convention with 6000 tickets at 20 each to fund setup and salvage. Leaders discuss candidates including Hill Cleveland Gorman Palmer Morrison and vice presidential bets Gray Boies Altman Stevens with state heavyweights backing Morrison.

Springfield Mo June 14 Eleven men held without bail on preliminary trial for the murder of Deputy Sheriff George T Williams and his wife were lodged in jail to await the October term of the County Circuit Court. They arrived from parsythe this morning for examination and were committed to jail.
New Orleans June 14 Indications point to the Avondale plantation levee break near the city being closed in a day or two. Water from the break has already disrupted railroad business and inundated the Mississippi Valley Railway. Belmont crevasse efforts are abandoned as the Avondale breach widens to about 800 feet with water 10 feet deep. Plantations along the river front face rising floodwaters.
