Exile and Echoes of a White Trader in Madagascar
The excerpt follows Rabodo and his distant world on African coasts and Madagascar, describing exile as a result of colonial power, the transformation of white traders into outcasts among Tuvalas, and a vivid voyage map from the Mozambique Channel to inland Beisil country as one man shares a life of trading rum and beads while awaiting return. It chronicles a brutal voyage, encounters with natives, and the psychological drift of the exile amid tropical seas and forests.
