Wright reported the loss. muddy foot tracks were found on the carpet and balcony. The diamonds remained, suggesting a thief took cash while leaving the jewelry.

Henry George arrived in New York aboard Cunard today with a brisk, healthy air and a red beard. About 100 single tax supporters greeted him at the dock while a flag waved for the leader. He will be entertained with a dinner at Brighton Beach tomorrow night with leaders from several cities and states.
Buffalo trustees of the Merchants' Exchange plan a meeting to expel or discipline several members tied to the Sherman en grain shortage affair. Disclosures have stalled, and no criminal action against Sherman parties has begun, though Mr Wilbur faces an indictment on a separate matter.
