A Baltimore and Ohio passenger train struck the Golden family as they crossed the main line near the railroad hotel in Grantox. In Landshut Lower Bavaria cemetery keepers are accused of robbing rich deceased over two years. Clothes ornaments and even hair were stolen while expensive caskets were replaced with plain pine coffins. General exhumations ordered. ghouls arrested.

Patiello Bouchette an Italian shot Francesco Frank aged 30 in New Rochelle this afternoon. Frank had married seven months ago to a young Italian girl. Bouchette sought Mrs Frank, urged she leave her husband, then shot Frank four times when ordered out, killing him. Bouchette was arrested.
New York cotton operators plan to corner Liverpool autumn deliveries by bidding all spot cotton at current basis and for immediate delivery. They also aim to corner New York cotton. A rise in silver and higher Indian Exchange push India Council bills from 1s 4d to 1s Td, adding to the India budget.
A Vienna dispatch reports Bulgarian Prime Minister Stambuloff will convene regimental colonels and town deputies at Sofia on August 3 to declare Bulgaria independent. The move follows ongoing drafts of proclamations and a push toward national sovereignty.
