Pension Voucher Delays Caused by Signatures and Magistrates

Old soldiers present signatures rather than marks on vouchers, delaying pensions. Country magistrates often err in voucher execution, especially postal addresses, causing checks to be held. Pensioners must have certificates on file if paid at the Pension Office, or vouchers mailed via magistrate wherever they reside. Deaths among pensioners rose last quarter as checks return marked deceased.
