Wilkinsburg School Destroyed by Night Fire
A large Wilkinsburg public school building valued at 45 000 to 48 000 was completely wrecked by a fire last evening. The blaze began in the belfry and spread rapidly aided by a gale. Principal J D Anderson assistant Prof Slater and two teachers Mary Moffit and Mollie Gibson were in the office when it started. Citizens and pupils helped salvage some items but the structure burned to walls. The fire department was unavailable, and theories point to possible carelessness or electrical causes. The board plans to rebuild using insurance proceeds to liquidate debts and issue new bonds.
