Janosky Gets Six Years In Criminal Court

Yesterday in the Criminal Court Jan Janosky was sentenced six years to the penitentiary after being found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the killing of Tomeak. Also sentenced were Albert E Wells twenty days in the workhouse for embezzling forty dollars from Metropolitan Life. John Kammerer fined two hundred thirty dollars and five months in the workhouse for liquor without a license. cross suits of Sleigh and OLeary dismissed on costs. Kate Haney acquitted of larceny by bailee. Julius Kutgner nolle pros. Christy Burns acquitted of malicious mischief. prosecutor Williams ordered to pay costs.

Ex Mayor Lyon Wins Large Verdict Against Railroad

Ex mayor Lyon secured a substantial personal injury verdict from the Pennsylvania Railroad for an West Penn accident years ago. Mayor A M Brown acted as counsel for Lyon. The final award totaled 13000 dollars, corrected from an earlier erroneous report of 21000 dollars. Lyon endured serious injuries and declining health.

Hamilton and Overend, diorama proprietors, filed suit against Harry Williams, head of the Pittsburg Auditorium on Penn avenue, seeking 1000 damages after his employees tore down their valuable pictures hangings and paraphernalia on March 17, 1881, causing soil and damage.
