McCormick Wins World Skating Title in Wisconsin

McCormick of New Brunswick defeated Axtel Paulsen in a ten mile race at Eav Crate Wisconsin to take the world skating championship from Paulsen who held the title for two years. The start was delayed by a false start over coats removed and weather was mild with a bad track. Referee Henry Hach and judges E O Remeys Ald Thom officiated as McCormick built a growing lead after the twenty-ninth lap to win easily.

Murder in Salt Lick township shocks Scottdale crowd

Samuel and William Coffman were arrested in Scottdale for the murder of Samuel Cramer last July. Willis Rekard allegedly confessed. Warrants exist for three others, with a $500 reward offered. Pan American contract for two steamers from Axton & Son

Wake-Windup Riot After M Gintys Wake Clash

A Fifth Avenue group from Oakland clashed with Soho youths near Moultrie Street after the musicians joked about Mc Ginty’s wake. Revolvers appeared and fists flew, with hats and instruments damaged. Inspector Whitehouse arrived. Henry Gribbridge remained and was detained. Pratt Owen later claimed a missing hat and was jailed. Magistrate Hyndman imposed a $10 fine plus costs.
