Coroners Inquest Returns Verdicts In Several Deaths

The inquest on John Bond who died at Mercy Hospital from brain inflammation concluded with the committal of Louis Wagner for warder after he struck Bond with a hammer. Death from exhaustion and heart failure was the verdict for Mrs Justina Melsher and Mr Schleep, victims of a gas explosion in Ash alley. The boy found dead near Braddock on the Pemickey Railroad was identified as Thomas Clark’s son, 13, with a certain verdict. Daniel Manning who died at West Penn Hospital was ruled an accidental death. Manning appeared Wednesday on Fourth-sight street.

Bank books transferred to Henning at Feathers and Mechanics Bank

William Henning of Sorg and Henning took charge of the bank books yesterday replacing Herman Sorg Jr who is gone. There are no depositors with uncalled for balances.

Swift accepts Pittsburg post office cashier post

Arthur L. Swift informed Postmaster McKean at 9 am of his decision to become cashier at the Pittsburg post office with a $2,500 annual salary after July 1 and an assistant cashier to be added. The move follows ten years as secretary to a Chamber of Commerce leader. Swift’s bond stands at $25,000. Colonel Moody is considering an offer for Assistant Postmaster. Inspectors Griges and Holmes left for Washington to report on transfers and staffing.

Disability Board Reports Yearly Finances and Cases

The Disability Board of the Pittsburg Fire Department met to review cases including William Boyd and Thomas Ware injuries and James J. Golden eye injury.
