Counterfeit plot unfolds in New York and Pittsburgh

Leonardo Magniatto and Mario Mazzaltino face counterfeiting charges after passing 1888 1589 dated silver dollars at the Black Bear Hotel. Authorities say Magniatto betrayed the plot by returning from New York with two satchels of spurious coin while Mazzaltino claimed to have obtained the money from a bank. Authorities anticipate a conspiracy case as more arrests follow in connection with the gang.
