Tappen predicts completion early next week as Gallatin Bank has $500000 pledged and total subscriptions reach 2.5 million. The plan aims to issue 4.5 million in notes against the bonds to aid currency and support crop movement times.
A sensational suit in which broker Joseph Gill is accused of taking tips from a Standard Oil insider to profit from oil trades is set for the September circuit of the Eighth Judicial district. Plaintiffs Green and Metcalf claim $38,100 in losses from alleged market manipulation and misadvised investments.

In Chicago on August 29 the Chicago Tribune reports Jay Gould has largely ceded control of the Union Pacific. Pierrepont and Drexel Morgan & Co. are set to lead, with Sidney Dillon resigning as president and Spencer of Drexel handling Denver assets as successor. The Vanderbilt group is also said to dominate Chicago Milwaukee and eye Denver and Rio Grande in a fierce contest with other rail interests.
At Headfort on August 29 Charles Cannon a 68 year old Central Iron Works employee killed himself by arsenic saying life was a perfect fraud He was an infidel and follower of the late Dr Stuart who also wrote of life’s incurable diseases and committed suicide Cannon had formed an agnostic circle in the town.
P Shaw, longtime lawyer and director of the New York Cable Railway, sees a judgment for 1 815 222 50 filed in U S court after nine years of waiting for pay. The company offered stock instead of cash, with notes totaling 1 000 000 issued to Shaw as payment. The directors approve settling debts in stock and plan road construction pending council permission.
A party of fifteen Colchester county men leased Anthony Grove's Oakete property near Halifax to pursue Captain Kidd's buried treasure. They boast capital and maps claiming to locate the hoard and vow to work until success or every shovel is examined, repeating a long fruitless search with renewed confidence.
Detroit Aug 29 Prof Hogan balloonist at Exposition grounds fell from his balloon and was killed at 5 30 pm after ascending near one mile. He lost his hold while about to cut loose and plunged to the earth witnessed by about 30 000 people. Body mangled head crushed. He was brother of Boga who vanished in a New York camp airship ascent years ago.

It details their love, suicide by both, blackmail by Countess Larisch, and the empress's role, with Marie’s last letters and the aftermath for the grieving mother.
A bitter feud erupts at St Marys Polish Church in East Dubuque as three leading female members Mrs Slawonski Mrs Victoria Trudinoski and Mrs Ladyslaus Zeborowski are publicly excommunicated by Rev Father Janauskiewicz amid a dispute over pew dues and church discipline.
