Counterfeiter Held for Court in Life Insurance Case
Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company of California sues I. R. Stayton for 921 dollars claiming breach of contract. Stayton agreed in 1889 to move to Texas, form a business partnership with W. E. He borrowed 350 dollars, gave a 2000 dollar bond with his wife as security which proved worthless, and after an about 70 day stay in Paris Texas failed to fulfill the agreement and returned to Allegheny, leaving the company owed 971 dollars in all.
