The Allegheny County Teachers Institute at Pittsburg High School featured Miss Mathilde B Coffin presenting reading methods and Prof Emory P Russell outlining musical instruction. Love tragedy rocks Cievetano as ex mayor’s home gunfire

At 9 30 this morning at 327 Franklin Avenue ex mayor Stephen Bubrer's house George Talcott, coachman, died after Ed Hutchinson drew a revolver and shot him in the neck and mouth. Hutchinson fled the scene and then shot himself, later taken to St Vincent's Hospital in precarious condition with Mrs Bahrer present.

Indiana Contractor Eases Widows and Orphans Hardship

At Hawthorn City glass works accident four of five men killed were married. Contractor J. W. Smith, away at the time, returned to find the bereaved cared for. He supplied each widow with £1,000, paid all cases, and placed them on the payroll. Coroner calls it unforeseen and unavoidable. Public praise follows his act of humanity toward employees.

Roanoke Flood Destroys Docks and Drowns Worker

A cloud burst hit Roanoke Virginia on August 23 around 11 PM causing over 100000 dollars in damage and at least one death. Salem Avenue and Jefferson Street business blocks flooded with water filling the low area and washing away sidewalks. Barney Smith a blacksmith at Roanoke Machine Works drowned after falling into a flooded trench. Reports say two more bodies found, verification pending as the city grapples with the floodwaters and a flooded electric plant.

Andrew Hanretty filed suit on behalf of himself and nine year old Margaret against Allegheny County Light Co for damages after Inspector Rutledge allegedly drove recklessly while looking up at lamps and wires. Hanretty seeks 10000 for the girl and 5000 for himself. A habeas corpus petition sought release of Charles Miller from the workhouse. Judge McClung ordered his discharge after a July 15 disorderly conduct sentence.

Executions Issued Against Brewers and Butter Company

Executions were issued yesterday against George Tann for 5273 dollars and Charles Manning for 3195 dollars by receiver Wm. & Pier of the William Tann Brewing Company. The Pittabure Beef Company issued an execution against W. F. Scott and Blanche K. Scott doing business as the Union Butter Company for 55422 dollars.
