Braddock Fire Destroys Hungarian Quarter Homes
A fierce blaze in Braddock's east end, the Hungarian quarter, leveled about two acres of two and three story wooden buildings. Forty-two structures and later more than 125 families totaling around 400 people were rendered homeless with losses estimated up to 125000 dollars. Firefighters and residents aided survivors as temporary shelters were erected and donations organized. No lives were reported lost though several near escapes occurred as wind fueled the flames and hampered water pressure.
