The Wrong Man Arrested at Westox Depot
A large crowd at the Westox depot witnessed Richard Dowell, brought from Grand Forks after an arrest for the December 23, 1875 murders. Dowell was convicted, escaped jail, and claimed to be James Shelton, a non-Tennessee native from Dakota six years ago. He will likely be released as authorities investigate the case.
