The Holly Inn undergoes rapid upgrades ahead of the season. The lobby floor will be hardwood, the rear open court becomes a 28 foot square smoking room with natural wood finish, and white enamel stairs. Re-papering repainting continues throughout. Bathing facilities are added to twelve rooms and a new brick oven replaces the old in the basement to enable bread supply for village hotels and cottages.

Cottage Improvements and Changes At Family Retreats
The writer notes substantial work on private family cottages, with six nearly doubled in size. A typical project converts a former kitchen into a dining room, adds kitchen and servant’s room at the rear, and rises two stories to create a new upper living space. Dormers are enlarged to brighten bedrooms and add a bath and toilet on the second floor, while interiors and exteriors are refreshed with paint and fine paper. The plan, varied across cottages, will push forward next season.
