Picnic in Mid-Winter at Raeford Academy
About one hundred excursionists rode the Aberdeen and Asheboro railroad to Raeford Academy for a February basket picnic. They toured a saw mill, bought treats, enjoyed a banquet under pines, and heard speeches by Judge Sample and Dr. Parcell. A $27 collection aided the school, and visitors later inspected a turpentine distillery.
