The Harsh Treatment of Cicero Truby
Robert Dewey reads a confession from his late father identifying a neglected past and a plan to leave assets to a college for educating Negroes. Cicero Truby presses his luck with a dirtied envelope, claiming papers and a coat tied to Mr. Dewey. The tale closes with Dewey’s remorseful letter from his father and mother’s loving, if flawed, attempts.
