Memories of Annie Oakley Adopted by Sioux Tribe
A reminiscence recounts Annie Oakley at Pinehurst on New Year’s Day winning a fox hunt, claiming Sioux ties, and Sitting Bull’s response. Oakley narrates gifting a portrait to Sitting Bull who then funds a photograph, paving a rare white–Sioux bond. The tale notes Sitting Bull’s strength and his later ceremonial adoption in full regalia.
