The Holly Inn cotillion opened the season with festive decorations and a lively program. Highlights included the Cinderella slipper dance with a left-foot skew, the Merry Widow performance, a needle threading contest, and the jig-saw postal card puzzle craze. A playful parade of games kept both participants and onlookers entertained throughout the evening.
A lively scene features two groups, one led by a young woman and another by a young man, racing amid a heap of seasonal favors. Toy horns, accordions, rattles, wind buzzers, mechanical wood choppers, and skeletons add to the lighthearted spectacle, with a few harmless tumbles.
R H Gwaltney of Essecola Country Club Wilmington N C defeats R E Sproule of Royal Portrush Ireland 2 up in the final for the President s Trophy. The match stayed close from the first hole to the last with the North Carolina player taking a final lead on the sixteenth and halving the seventeenth before Sproule evened the score on the home green.
