A village program in Pinehurst raised funds through a ladies committee to provide two Christmas trees and gifts for every child in the village and nearby. The event featured the Holly Inn orchestra, local school performers, a Santa appearance, and tables piled with oranges, confections, nuts, and an array of toys amid festive decorations.
Christmas observances in Pinehurst featured a midnight Holy Communion service at 12 A M led by Rev. Henry H Sleeper in the Village Hall with a volunteer choir, and a 10 A M service of Holy Communion, morning prayer and a sermon conducted by Rev. A E Johnson of Providence with music directed by Mrs Montgomery A Crockett.
Rev Mr Johnson reflects on Revelation XXI and the Christmas theme God with us. He links the tabernacle in the wilderness to the Christian body as a dwelling place for the soul and notes that in Christ the Incarnation made God dwell among humanity. The sermon continues on the next page.
