Equestrian contest thrills five hundred at village ring
A Wednesday afternoon riding contest drew about five hundred spectators. Twelve competitors, mostly young women, performed four events including an egg race a ring lance and potato relay won by Miss J B Johnson with thirteen points and Miss Emily J Allen second with eleven. Mrs A Mellon rode superbly and prizes were stirrups and riding crop.
