First Equestrian Gymkhana Opens With Excitement and Fun
The first equestrian gymkhana contest drew a big crowd on Tuesday afternoon. Riders competed in trio races to remove a ribbon bow from an opponent, with Miss Mary C. Dutton and Mr. J. Cushing Todd leading the field aboard Cuba. Mrs. Leonard Tufts rode Moreen and briefly led before Greer captured the ribbon as Tufts leaned to the horse’s neck. An addition contest followed with audience members partnering to deliver sums, many returns failing audits. A new dummy carrying contest also debuted, promising popularity as riders tackled a hill toward Dickinson School.
