Allan Lard Wins Consolation in St Valentine Golf Meet

Allan E. Lard of the Columbia Golf Club Washington defeated J C Parrish Jr of Shinnecock Hills to win the first division trophy two up with one to play on the seventeenth. Parrish won the first hole and led at times as Lard forged a late rally to prevail. Lard earlier beat Wilber C Johnson Canoe Brook and John E Porter Allegheny to reach the final. Porter and Lard played a 71 on the course. The first division consolation crown went to N Hurd Pittsburg Country Club with Brown Saegkill and Rushmore Garden City also notable. Second division saw C L Becker Woodland defeat C A Munger Camden on the home green. Other division winners included F A Potts Lakewood and J G Nicholson New Bedford.

Village Wins Four and Two In Fast Baseball Tilt

The Village beat Carolina 4 to 2 in a brisk Thursday game noted for sharp fielding and heavy hitting. Eastman held the Village to five singles and a two-bagger, while Gleason allowed seven hits in a pitchers battle. Lynch starred with defense at short and Slattery led the Village with the bat. Norris paced the Carolinas with a hot line and the first runs, as Young and Morris contributed for the Village in a tight contest.
