Hurd's Day Fetes Big Purses at Jockey Club Meet
The Jockey Club Meet drew record attendance as Hurd's Day showcased two steeplechases and the Advertisers Meet. Miriam H. won the Ladies Purse and the Advertisers' Steeple Chase with Batchelor guiding Little Horn. Travellers’ rider Hurd led in the Midwinter Hurdles. George Crocker Jr. dominated the Guests' Purse in a wild finish. Walter C. led the pacing heats, while three lumbermen entertained with woodcutting stunts named daily 1 2 and 3.
