Yuletide Festivities and Christmas Cheer in Pinehurst Reader
In 1898 Beulah Hill Baptist Church hosted village Christmas events with committees organizing a joyful season. An entertainment for villagers occurred at Village Hill last Saturday and a separate program for colored residents followed Monday afternoon. A white community celebration also took place Monday morning with many attending. Holidays passed pleasantly with no reported accidents and a detailed account follows.

The Pinehurst community held a Christmas program at Beulah Hill Baptist Church perched on a hill amid oaks and pines. A large crowd attended, many arriving on foot, with two hundred present though only about one hundred seats inside. The event featured songs, recitations, dialogues, and a Texas Courtship, culminating in an outdoor gift distribution beside a tall Christmas tree.
