Mrs W G Telfer and Messrs F F and I W Telfer of Winnipeg arrive for a long sojourn, signaling plans to stay for an extended period.
Mr D N Clark and his son Noyes Clark of Woodsbridge Connecticut arrive early at The Magnolia ahead of The Berkshire opening. Clark has been a Pinehurst annual visitor since its inception and is a familiar golf figure. Also welcomed back are Mr and Mrs H G White and Miss Ruth White of Ridgewood.
In anticipation of Saturday January 6 the Carolina hotel staff of about sixty to seventy workers gear up for the big event. The village expects a record stream of arrivals on opening day and plans to accommodate early week guests as demand rises.
A busy quail hunting week features H. M. Wallace of Halifax G. B. Wade and Caxton Brown of New York and Dr T. D. Myers of Philadelphia among participants. For the near term plans include Benj Thaw of Pittsburgh J. S. Robeson of Rochester C. W. Royce of Arlington A. Bryan Alley of Montgomery and W. H. Browning of New York.
Uncle George M Williams, a native colored wood carver, draws interest at the Arts and Craft Shop. Using a crosscut saw and a keen edged knife he makes pipes, canes, toys, and novelties. He has no secrets and visitors are welcome.
Miss Bessie Abbe succeeds her sister Mrs Nathan Estes as head of the Pinehurst School Primary Department. A Plymouth Normal School graduate from New Hampshire, she is already a general favorite.
The passage notes many enjoy riding as silver roads beckon in all directions. Dr. J.C. Wood of Cleveland and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dreyfoos of New York are among those who rarely miss the afternoon gallop.
Miss Susan Mullen of New York visits Lexington briefly. Miss Nellie MacNulty of Pittsburg returns for the winter. Mr. J. W. Page of Washington will remain until Spring.
