R T Manson Framingham and E A Johnston Baltimore divided honors in the eighth annual Autumn Golf Tournament final. Manson defeated Johnston six and four to win the final. Johnston won the qualification trophy with an eighty four.
The Magnolia hosts many guests including Mr and Mrs L C Hopkins of New York and Mr and Mrs Clemens Tuzck of Haddon Heights returning for visits. Other arrivals include Dr and Mrs H Knudsen from Spokane and Mrs G H Dunham of New York. A Sunday concert at The Holly Inn features an orchestral and vocal program with Nevin Mendelssohn and Boito selections.
Golf or match play results show Johnston defeating Cheatham 2 up and Nay over Gregg 1 up in the first round. Nicholson bested Rathbone 2 and 1, Cummings over Dr Knight 1 up, Franklin defeated Chittenden 6 and 5, Goodall by default over Lightbourn, Hudson 1 up over Knight dr., Manson 2 and 1 over Bowen. In the second round Johnston 2 and 1 over Nay, Nicholson 5 and 4 over Cummings, Franklin 4 and 8 over Goodall, Manson 1 up over Hudson. Semi finals Johnston 2 and 1 over Nicholson, Manson 6 and 4 over Franklin. Final Manson defeats Johnston 6 and 4.
In the first round Cheatham defeats Gregg 1 up while Knight over Rathbone 19 holes. Lightbourn beats Chittenden 6 and 5 and Bowen defeats Knight Jr S and 2. In the semifinals Cheatham edges Gregg 1 up and Lightbourn defeats Bowen 3 and 2. Final sees Cheatham win over Lightbourn by default.
