Lesson From Turpentine Report Hits North Carolina
The U S forestry service reports North Carolina and South Carolina as the only states where turpentine and rosin output fell from the prior year. It notes most production is from the old box system and urges shift to cup and gutter or cup and apron methods, citing price declines in 1908 and total values for turpentine and rosin. Florida leads production, followed by Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. 1908 average prices are given for both turpentine and resin.
